Student Organizing Committee: Meeting Archives
Here is the archive of past meetings. Special thanks to Tara Sheoran for her hard work in keeping records of meetings. Each meeting is summarized for quick reference.
- 28 April 2008 -
In this meeting, the SOC discusses some of the future, potential changes to the various cultural studies program committees and how to participate in any sort of program restructuring. There was an update on the 2nd annual conference; the deadline for submissions of abstracts was fast approaching. Tara and Rob have been selected to pursue starting a publication/journal. Finally, the SOC decided to survey graduate student in CS to determine living conditions, financial conditions, and how well the University assists them with funding and work. - 20 March 2008 -
This meeting centers on the transition in co-chairs from Leah Perry and Rob Gehl to Randall Cohn and David Arditi. Also notable is David and Leah's discussion of organizing graduate students into a political lobby. - 14 September 2007 -
This meeting features the bulk of the planning for the first graduate conference the SOC conducted. It also features the planning that would eventually become the bell hooks visit (we cosponsored her fee), and the beginning of the "Purpose of a University" series. All in all, this was a sucessful meeting.
- 05 April 07 -
This meeting was early on in the planning for the Politics of Cultural Programming conference.
