Section Information for Fall 2019
Scared of poetry? Really scared of 20th-century verse? This course is designed to help you overcome this terror (and others like it). Both an introduction to poetry and a deep dive into 20th-century American poetry, this course will investigate what poems do, how they do it and ways of dealing with even the most intractable of texts.
T.S. Eliot, John Ashbery, Wallace Stevens and Sylvia Plath (to name a few): what could go wrong?
