Kara Heitz is a PhD student in the Cultural Studies program at GMU. Her research interests involve American cultural studies, critical theory, popular culture studies, Foucault, and popular understandings of political authority. She received a B.A. from the University of Kansas in political science and economics, a MSc from the London School of Economics in international political economy, and an MA from George Washington University in political science as well as graduate coursework in American Studies. Kara currently is teaching in the Cultural Studies department at George Mason University. Additionally, she has taught multiple history and politics courses at NVCC.
