Alumni Spotlight: Olga U. Herrera  won 2018 SECAC Award for Excellence in Scholarly Research and Publication

We are pleased to announce that CS alumna Olga U. Herrera won the 2018 SECAC Award for Excellence in Scholarly Research and Publication for her book American Interventions and Modern Art in South America (University Press of Florida, 2017). 

Olga U. Herrera is the director of the Washington Office of the Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR) headquartered at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is the author of American Interventions and Modern Art in South America (University Press of Florida, 2017); Toward the Preservation of a Heritage: Latin American and Latino Art in the Midwestern United States (University of Notre Dame, 2008); and guest thematic co-editor of the spring 2017 issue of the journal Diálogo on Contemporary Latino and Latin American Art (DePaul University).

SECAC is a national non-profit organization devoted to education and research in the visual arts. SECAC Award for Excellence in Scholarly Research and Publication is given for outstanding research shown in a recent publication. More information about Herrera's awarded book can be found here.
