Alumni Spotlight: M. Liz Andrews Appointed Executive Director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art

The Cultural Studies PhD Program is proud to share that alumna M. Liz Andrews has just been named the new Executive Director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art! Specializing in the intersections of art and politics, her work aims to center forms of social justice "in a moment of great change for museums, arts and culture."

The appointment follows Dr. Andrews' tenure as Executive Administrator at LACMA. LACMA CEO and Director Michael Govan has commented enthusiastically on Dr. Andrews' career trajectory, emphasizing that in her "focus on social justice and equity as a path to the future of art museums" she has set "herself on a path to help shape our field."

At Spelman, Dr. Andrews will bring to bear her educational and curatorial practice and experience towards furthering the Museum's institutional commitment to casting a light on the art of women of African descent.
