After 4 years of service on the Cultural Studies Association (CSA) Executive Committee, and 2 years as the elected Vice-President (2012-2014), Jaafar Aksikas was elected by the entire membership to serve as CSA President from 2014 to 2016. As President, Aksikas will serve as the Association's chief officer and will chair both its Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.

The CSA is the largest network of Cultural Studies scholars, educators, and practitioners in the United States. The organization’s goals include the creation and promotion of an effective community of cultural studies practitioners, and the advancement of cultural studies knowledges, projects, and approaches throughout the world.

Jaafar Aksikas received his PhD in Cultural Studies at George Mason University in 2005. He is Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at Columbia College Chicago, where he was Director of the Program in Cultural Studies (2010 to 2013).
