Critiquing Culture Conference

Join us  for the SOC Critiquing Culture conference. 

When: Saturday, September 26th

Where: Merten Hall (formerly University Hall), Rooms 1203 and 1204

The 9th annual conference will bring together emerging scholars committed to the analysis and critique of culture.  The conference will also feature a collaboration with graduate students of the American University Photography program who will exhibit a body of work based on the theme "consumer culture." 

Panel topics include: technology and political economy, historical revisionism in media, the politics of space, theory and praxis of critique, art and activism,  and gender, sexuality, and representation.

The opening plenary on methodology features Johanna Bockman, Jessica Scarlata and Tim Gibson.
