Dr. Gehl is an internationally known critical social media scholar who has written books and articles on digital labor, user data mining, the cultural politics of algorithms, the "dark web," and the use of "social engineering" (including disinformation campaigns) in online and offline spaces. He has also written on possible alternatives to corporate-owned, privacy-violating, disinformation-saturated social media. Dr. Gehl's talk is free and open to all members of the Mason community.
