As an interdisciplinary program, Cultural Studies welcomes applicants with a range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary MAs; students with degrees in English, Sociology, History, Media Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Film and TV, African-American Studies, Philosophy, Comparative Literature, Modern Languages, American Studies, and Communication are invited to apply.

Between our core and affiliate faculty, we can supervise a wide variety of interdisciplinary research trajectories. You can take a look at our previous dissertation and proposal defenses to see the wide variety of innovative and successful projects our students have worked on. You also can take a look at our current students and their research interests to get a sense of what students in the program are focusing on right now.

Most students working within the humanities and social sciences will find support in our program. If you are unsure if you are a fit, contact a core faculty member whose work most closely resembles yours.

Students who do not currently possess MAs should contact the interim program director for advice and information.

GRE scores are not required to be considered for admission to our PhD program, though you are welcome to submit them if you wish. Contact our program assistant for advice and information.
