Mariah Wakefield is a current PhD student in Cultural Studies at George Mason University. She holds a B.A. in Cultural Criticism/Music Business from New York University and a M.A. in Cultural Studies from the The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Before pursuing her PhD at George Mason, Mariah worked primarily in arts administration, holding positions at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and The Metropolitan Opera Guild.
Her current research interests include embodied experience in immersive art practices, cultural psychology, and the formation of identity narratives and their subsequent reflection in mass culture.
